Don't forget to use the 2 or 10s timer as well so the tripod isn't wobbling at all when it takes the picture.

I've just taken a load with the following settings. They're looking promising - I'll post the result later when I've processed them:

M-Mode,
spot metering,
manual focus (the moon isn't at infinity so focus carefully. I have the magnify option set to make it esier)
F8.0
1/160s
ISO 80
5M ez zoom
stabilizer off, tripod mounted, 2s delay
contrast etc. all -2

Didn't know about the timer. M mode camer out just a white disk so went to A mode and F8 as you suggested. Didn't use the EZ think, don't understand that yet. stabalizer was off. didn't know about contrast either.
Will have to try again tomorrow night. Mine are not sharp. I used to magnifier, i think.

Eysha, drop the image size down from 14mp to 12.5mp, then when you use the zoom control instead of the zoom stopping at x24 it will extend to x28.

If you select even smaller image sizes then the zoom extends past x24 and at 0.3mp the zoom reaches x66. The drawback is the smaller the image size the more "blocky" the image will become

Hope you have time to try it out tonight

What we gonna do with you Eysha ?

With the camera turned on, press the Q menu button, look at the top row of menu items, 7th item from left hand side is the picture size in mp, select 12.5 or 9m, then push menu set

now when you zoom, it will go past X24 zoom, this is EZ or extra zoom

to turn on the timer, to the left of menu set, is the timer button, press it, you are now in the timer menu, set the time delay you want to use, if for the moon shot use 10 second delay. Remember, you have to set timer every time you want to use it.

Hope this works for you E
