Default FZ40 - Bread

It was, amongst lots of other things, a baking weekend - I had a go at making some Miche loaves for the first time. The Miche is a huge French country-style sourdough loaf, this one was 1.8kg after baking.

First shot is the sourdough starter (in the lidded jar) and the preferment which had been fermenting overnight:

Second shot is a finished loaf - an incredibly tasty combo of white flour, wholemeal (whole wheat), and a little rye and semolina:

Hi there, Mick-

I am also a bread maker as well. That is a very good look loaf of bread, but very much on the large side. Nice photos. I trust that the bread was delicious.

Nice shots, Mick, especially #2. Looks like it would go well with some butter and vegemite!!

Mick,

really nice shots and a good idea.
The pix let me remember my student time, when I also baked bread by myself.
Maybe I should start baking again ;-)
The bread really looks delicious, enjoy it.

Cheers,

Stefan

Sarah, you have a better climate for bread - it's so humid here the crust won't stay crunchy.

jj, I tried some honey on it - awesome

Craig, I'm not much a vegemite fan but definitely butter.

Stefan, yes you should bake again

Thanks for all the comments.

Thanks saly, it was a rainy day and I took this near a window on the side of the house away from the sun - I guess you'd call it heavily-filtered natural light, coming through timber blinds.
