I really like the first one too; the bird does have an interesting expression. Unfortunately photographing in the middle of the day will always give some severe shadows though.

Nice set jjdog. Good feather detail too. The nuthatch is the one that I keep going back to — excellent. With birds you take what you can get and if the opportunities are in the middle of the day, then so be it. You 'done good'.
