jjdog, yes it is an old thimble, but quite "young" as it was manufactured in 1901.
Square one - haha if you happen to have some antiques lying around at home - I'm your collector! Maybe I should drop some hints to DyaneG as she lives in the right part of the world...
Rui, here is the photo with the whole scissors included (I had to crop to size for our camera club competition).
