Default Should I upgrade my SDHC card to a faster one? (FZ40/45)

Hello there.
At the moment I'm using a Sony Class 4 4GB SDHC, and it works very well even for recording MPG HD movies (Class 6 recommended).
However, the image writing speed is a little slow for my tastes, it's so slow that I'm shooting 5MP images. It's impossible to use raw files because it's awfully slow and you can shoot another JPEG while the camera is still writing the previous one, but raws have to wait the buffer to clear for another shot. The red dot blink 18 times for every raw.
Is it normal? If you have a higher class card, could you post how many times the red dot blinks while writing raw files? I don't know if the camera is able to write higher speeds, maybe a class 6, but I think there's little to no difference between class 6 and class 10 for example. I think only DSLRs can write at those speeds.

Thank you.

Mine maybe writes at half that? I have it set to process both Jpeg & Raw so I don't notice how slow it is... but I did notice how slow it was when I was on the Class 4. I've been happy with my class 6 card.

Default number of red blinks whens saving raw

I have a FZ35, an Apacer 16GB Class 6 and a Transcend 8GB Class 10 sd card.

When shooting raw, I get:

5 blinks -> Class 10
6 blinks -> Class 6

Capturing and saving a hd movie is also a tad faster when using the class 10 card
