Default Teleconverters and FZ100

I am thinking about a teleconverter for my FZ100. From other members posts I think the Olympus TCON 17 looks like the one to go for.
What I am not clear about is whether I will need to buy the Panasonic adapter LA5 to make it fit or will it just need a 52-55mm stepping ring on the filter thread?
If I went for the Panasonic LT55 instead then I guess the LA5 will be required.
I am trying to keep the cost down so I want to be sure what I need before starting down this route.

Cheers

In every case you will need the LA5 because of the weight of the adapter. Without the LA5 you will damage your lens barrel and motor.

Stefan is right. You shouldn't put anything too heavy on the main lens barrel.

The DMW-LA5 should be the right adapter for the FZ100 and a Tcon 1.7.

What doesn't match? The teleconverter should have 55mm threads and so does the adapter. If that's the mismatch, either the adapter is wrong or you don't have the later Tcon 1.7. that is the same as the LT55 Panasonic.

There were some earlier Tcons that were something like 17e or ex. Or the Polaroid adapter might need a step-up/down ring to mate to the 55mm threads. Some generic versions could be 58mm or 52mm.

Have you got a link to the TC or adapter to check?

Also, the FZ150 and FZ200 adapters might look the same, but aren't.

The LA5 adapter with a Tcon 1.7 and an FZ100 should work.
