I have tried some early season Iris and have not had very good results. The shape of the bloom is so complex that the detail quickly gets lost. The perspective of the image fails to pick up the depth and puts the pieces in place. #3 of your set speaks to my finding. Earlier, I shot many daffodils, and they seem to work very well. They don't have as many elements, and getting the perspective is easier through the image.

The regular Iris are just starting to come to bloom in my area. My time has been too long on work, too short on snapping pics. I know some good locations, and hope to try this week.
