Default Where's Best To Get An LX3 Repaired? How Much Does It Cost? SYSTEM ERROR (ZOOM)

Where is the best place and how much does it cost to get an LX3 repaired?

The error is on the LCD as: SYSTEM ERROR (ZOOM)

I purchased the camera used on eBay so it is not under warrantee.

I dropped the camera indoors onto a semi-hard surface. The outer smaller lens section became dislodged and cockeyed in the larger inner lens section. I straightened it out myself by manually "popping" the outer section into place.

Now, however, when the camera is turned on, the lens extends fully, then retracts fully, and the LCD shows the following error:

SYSTEM ERROR (ZOOM)

What is a good place to get it repaired? I live in Brooklyn, NY.

Is it generally better to send it to Panasonic's repair center in McAllen, Texas; to get it repaired locally by a camera repair shop; or by KEH or some other repairer?

What are the advantages of each alternative?

Can one typically get a free cost estimate before proceeding with any repair?

Any idea of how much such a repair might cost?

I just did a search on the internet, and a lens repair / service for the LX3 came up at $116. You have to decide if the cost is justified after adding postage.
