Default LC55 - The face of fly

Guys, here you have the face of fly (a little bright, against the sun this shot is little overexposed)

And here a little cropped (to see better the face details):

Fantastic pic . Could i ask roughly how far away from the fly you were please ?
Could someone please explain the benefits of this macro lens please ie what extra magnification does it give you .
I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to upgrade to a DSLR or add to the FZ38 i currently have .
Appreciate any advice

Thanks Forzahibs!
I was about from 30 to 50 centimeters (11,82 to 19,7 inch), with LC55 the magnification is about x1,7 ERROR!! THE CORRECT MAGNIFICATION is ABOUT x3 (for FZ38 you need the DMW-LA3 adapter tube)
