Default FZ40 Noise

I am a bit disappointed with the FZ40 compared to my FZ28. The FZ28 shoots far better images handheld. Anyone have similar comparisons? I need some FZ40 tips.

Would have been nice if I posted examples, yes? I was browsing a bit and I can see a few tweaks I can try to improve things as well as I think I would like to try shooting in the RAW to compare!

Hey Bethellenagle, how Saly suggested to Airgarg, look at the thread where Mtclimber introduce "how to get started" step by step instruction for FZ40/45 Users, with

"Panasonic FZ40/45 Beginner’s Guide":

Good luck with shooting in RAW mode, there have been some really good examples here of PP RAW files.

.... to me it sort of negates the 'point and shoot' function of the camera

G'day Beth

I would like to see some examples of the images that worry you before you go off and start 'shooting in the raw' .... if your camera technique is not at 100% now, shooting in raw format is not going to make things any better

Secondly - although many on this [and other photo] forum shoot raw format & regularly 'encourage' us to do the same, in my experience 80% to 90% of images I see taken as regular everyday Jpegs are absolutely on-the-button and as such, raw shooting & processing would have made little if any improvement

Hope this helps
Regards, Phil

It makes sense to me...I need to solve my problems with this camera. I know RAW will not redeem me. lol What I need to do is focus some time with some examples to get some help. It's funny..I've been taking photos for awhile and have many I am happy with over time but right now I feel like I need beginners lessons.

G'day again Beth

Okay - you're [probably] on the right track ... [for all us oldies] we've all been thru it
How about starting a new thread asking Qs about things you need to know more about, maybe putting sime images up for comment, and working up, one step at a time. I'm 99% sure that others here will be more than happy to help you with advice & comments :-)

Regards, Phil
