Hi JJ; Thank you! I was probably about 10-15 feet away. I've been too lazy to drag my tripod outside, but seeing the results with just handholding the camera, I'm happy!

the image stabilization is awesome on it, I don't even use a tripod myself.

Patrick; I'm absolutely amazed at the image stabilization! I've never been able to take photos such as this, without a tripod.

Good shot Carol, getting the eye detail seems to make the picture pop

As you said, when the FZ40/45 is working in it's sweet spot it produces wonderful results as so many people have posted here
