Default Scoglieraviva Caorle

This is the explanation:

In 1993 the town council of Caorle devised the "Scogliera Viva", international competition along this promenade, a biennial symposium of sculptures, in which numerous international famous sculptors have taken part over the years. The result is a unique sculpture gallery, carved from the Euganean trachyte rocks, which were placed to defend the historic centre from the sea waves that accompany the visitor in a visually striking itinerary. It is an open-air museum along which unusual works of art can be admired.
Thanks to this highly appreciated exhibition, the artist gives life to a large rock, releasing it from the form that associates it to the animal world, to another one of man, love and metaphysics, thereby attributing new meanings and concepts to the reefs which were initially only intended as a form of defence against the force of the sea.
The work of the sculptor is performed on the reefs in the month of June every two years, lying in the view of passers-by which can get closely acquainted with this ancient art.

Neat stuff Catalex, thanks for sharing. Might want to try a few B&W shots on those carvings.

That is extremely interesting! Some of the carvings are rather haunting; but still extraordinary!

Thanks for sharing this with us!
