I agree it's sad, that a majestic old tree was cut down & left to rot.

However, what a beautifully composed photo! The moss on the tree, surrounded by the lovely ferns makes this such an exceptional image!

Great capture with a lovely colour range and exposure. Are any of those ferns Silver Ferns??

Dyane, there many kinds of fern in new Zealand, Cyathea dealbata is the common fern, known as as a ponga, the underside is silver, I am not an expert on this subject.
