Default Actual zoom range of TZ3...?

Hi guys- apologies for asking something about an older camera- but this issue does apply to others in the TZ range.
The camera in question apparently has a 28-280mm zoom(equivalent of)- however,is that in the native 4/3,3/2 or 16/9 format???
Before everyone shouts "stupid fool"- this camera, unlike other compacts, doesn't utilise the full sensor's width in its native 4/3 format- and actually widens the image when using the 3/2 and 16/9 format- as opposed to other compacts which merely chops off the top of the image, which only decreases the image height- thus giving a false "wider" type image.
The three width(format) sizes are- 4/3- 3072
3/2- 3216
16/9- 3328

Given these three widths on the three formats, only one of these can be the equivalent of 28mm- but which one??
Of course, the 10x zoom will apply in all formats, but will be 10x the three different equivalent wide angles.
Another thing to bear in mind, though not wholly significant,is that when using the native 4/3 format- you have in effect a smaller sensor than the 1/2.35" stated- which is actually an 8.5mp sensor!!
A similar system is used in the 12mp TZ10 also, with only a portion of a 14mp sensor being used- hence 12mp squeezed into a sensor area smaller than most people realise..!!
Again what is the zoom range in their respective different formats?
Should this not be disclosed/indicated....?

I believe that they measured this in the 4:3 format the same as Canon do. When shooting video then you are getting wider angle than when shooting stills (although it's late and I could be wrong..... someone might have a definitive link or something).

Thanks for reply Mark1616- so I wonder what the wide angle equivalent is at the 3/2 and wider still 16/9 setting...!!??
Indeed the camera can shoot at a wider than usual video- 848x480(30fps) and the usual 640x480...

Aha....! I see Sony's DSC-H70 actually states the zoom difference in 16/9 and 4/3 formats... 25-250 and 27-270mm. Good on ya Sony....
