That is really cool! Can you tell us exactly how you did that? I once tried for about half an hour to capture lightning and just ended up with over exposed light sky.....

Well, you need a bit of luck and patience! After one hour+ and over 200 photos you may get a few keepers. Tripod is a must of course. Set your camera to manual and pick '8 seconds'. Then try guess when/where the next one will hit and as long as the sky lights up within the 8sec window you may get something to smile about Here is another...

I'm guessing you are using something like ISO 100 and f8 or f11? What camera are you using?

That second one is way cool, too!

Panasonic FZ20. I went for f2.8, ISO 100. Here is another from last year using the same settings:
