Default Western Bluebird

These are not very good, I was pretty far and didn't have the right lens.... But I was still thrilled to get these because these guys are very rare to see in the city. Over the past years, many people (lead by the So Cal Bluebird Club) have tried to revive their population by providing nest boxes, and their population is growing. I have one in my yard, but still has a "vacancy" sign....

Cute little fellow, Saly!

Here, I don't have the Western Bluebirds, but the Mountain Bluebirds. The male is a complete very vivid blue, with no orange breast. I love them, & have 6 houses up for them.

Nice Saly, we have quite a few Bluebirds in Ohio. I just wish they would stop long enough to get a shot.

Thanks,

Carol - I think we have the mountain BB here but I've never seen one...

jj- Do you get the Eastern BB in Ohio? They are much more colorful than ours.

I only started seeing these guys about 4 years ago, and still only see then once or twice a year. I'm hoping they would nest in one of my boxes but we'll see. I know someone who waited over 15 years before a pair moved into his nest box!!!

Thanks Simon, their feathers are pretty, but what I love is their face. Very cute.
