junjames00:

I'm getting tired of banning spammers for promoting the site you're promoting.

So, do you really think we believe that your location is Oshkosh, WI? Sorry, I can see where your post originated from.

You have been banned, as we do not appreciate spammers here, or whatever you want to call yourself. Popular titles liked by spammers include SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Specialist and Marketing Consultant.

I have my own terms for Spammers. But, it wouldn't be appropriate to use profanity in the forums, so I'll just stick to referring to you as a Spammer.

Since we've seen more than one spammer promoting the company you're trying to promote in our forums, I have taken the extra step of setting up our forums software so that all links to the company you're promoting will now be automatically filtered by our forums software, even if they're posted by a satisfied user of that company's products.

That way, more spammers can't continue to join our forums to promote that site, as no matter the poster, the links will still be filtered; and that also sets an example for companies that use spammers for promotion purposes.

In addition, I'm notifying the company you're promoting of the steps we are taking. That way, they will know what type of tactics are being used.

Use of our forums for commercial purposes is against the rules here, and we specifically ask new members a Spam related question they must answer during the registration process. This text is being used:

Quote:
Anti-Spam Question

Please enter Yes to indicate that you understand that you will be banned if attempting to promote businesses, products or services by posting links to them in your signature or posts. We do not allow advertising in our forums. Also note that we may filter all links to businesses being promoted by Marketing Companies in our Forums, when we see them posting links here. This helps to reduce repeat Spam promoting the same companies.
You answered Yes.

Yet, you included this in your signature (no longer visible because you've been banned and signatures from banned users don't show up in posts anymore).

Upload your digital photos and get them enhanced and put on a beautiful canvas. Many different choices available.
You also promoted the same firm in post text (and the link to the company you're promoting is now being filtered automatically by our forums software, no matter the user posting it).

Hopefully, the company you're promoting will terminate their relationship with the firm you work for, as sometimes we find that companies are not familiar with the tactics being used by the so called "Search Engine Optimization" firms they've hired to promote them.

We are not going to tolerate Spammers here, especially when they pretend to be located somewhere they're not (and your post did not even originate from the same continent as Oshkosh, WI).

I really like number 3, too. It's amazing how nice something like a cloud formation can look, and you can let your imagination see all sorts of things in them.

BTW, my apologies for the long post earlier. I do that from time to time so I can set an example, forwarding the links to it to the companies being promoted.

What tends to happen is that they hire SEO firms to increase their search engine rankings and traffic, and these firms hire spammers in countries with cheaper labor to promote them in forums like ours. That's what appears to happening in this case (the posts weren't even coming from the same continent as the location in the poster's profile). Since I've seen spam promoting the same company before, I took stronger action (filtering links to the company being promoted) and sent them a note about it, so they'd know what kind of tactics are being used by the firm they probably hired to promote them. Sometimes, companies are very surprised and send me an apology, terminating their relationship with the SEO firm they hired. When that happens, I remove the filters and delete the offending spam and posts I made about it.

We get an awful lot of spam like that here from posters pretending to be part of a company and at that company's location, when in reality, they're just posing as someone they're not and posting in forums to promote the companies they've been hired to promote. So, from time to time, I'll set an example when I see repeat spam promoting the same vendor, which I did in this thread.

My apologies for the interruption.
