Default Camera advice. ZS8?

OK so I know that there are boards for picking cameras, but you all were VERY helpful when I bought my FZ50 a few yrs back so I want to pick your brains again if you don't mind. I dropped my small Pany P&S and now it isn't working so I'm on the hunt. I have (I think) narrowed down my search to the Sony WX9 and Panasonic ZS8. They both handled nicely and were much quicker than my old p&s in the store so I came home to investigate. People complain about the Sonys colors and it lacks the zoom of the Panasonic. However, people have said the pic quality on the ZS8 isn't all the hot. Anyone have real experience with the ZS8? I like the idea of another Panasonic as I still have the FZ50 so for software it's just simpler, but if the shots aren't that great I guess I will go with the Sony.
