Default Panasonic FZ150 with close-up lens.

I need your help, my brother paid us a visit & got me the Panasonic FZ150 with the DMW-LA5 adapter tube & 55-58 step-up ring but unfortunately Adorama didn't send him the Canon 500D 58mm they said it's backordered ( though they didn't mention it's out of stock when he ordered).

Anyway I have 2 solution either I order the Panasonic LC55 OR to get the Canon 500D 52mm & get a step-down ring (55-52mm ). Don't know what to decide worried if I got the step-down ring will cause vignetting.

Nilelily, I want to make sure of one thing. I'm pretty sure that the LA-5 is a Step-DOWN ring because the FZ150 barrel is 58mm and you need to step it down to 55mm to accept a LC55. So If you ordered the Canon 500D 58mm, it would not fit. You need the Canon in 55mm.

Whichever closeup lens you get, you must use the LA5 because you cannot attach the closeup lens directly to the main camera lens. The extra weight burns out the motor when zooming in and out.

My recommendation is to order the Canon 500D in 55mm or LC55. I have the LC55 and love it, plus I've seen fabulous results by other people using the Canon.

By the way, lucky you! I want a brother like him! I think you are going to love this camera.

Hi Nilelily...the 52mm would not be good choice...the LC55 would or the Canon 58mm 500D...the LC55 will of course screw directly onto the LA5 and the 58mm Canon will require the 55-58mm step up adapter...

Do not hesitate to get the LC55 it will do a great job for macros and close ups...

Nice present Nilelily!

I also agree that you need to get the 55mm thread version of either close-up lens

LTZ470 has great example of the Canon 500D, and Saly has equally good examples using the LC55.

Thank you all ( Saly, LTZ & Square One) for your help, I know both lens are excellent.
I used to see from the beginning when you used to use the LC55 (LTZ, Clint, Square One & from the Queen of Close-up (Saly) & other member excellent photos from the LC55.

Again, thank you for your speedy answer.

Thanks Nilelily for your kind words! Just make sure you order a 55mm lens, not 58mm.

Good choice NileLily, you will enjoy the LC55 - it is a beautiful closeup lens. Mine hardly leaves my camera!
