Default Next camera

I've planned on the FZ150; however, I wonder if Panasonic may be coming out with a longer zoom. I would be very disappointed to buy one, and then have a longer zoom model come along.

A 30x would be great!

Your opinions?

Hi Carol, just curious about what you are looking for in a new camera that the FZ40 cannot do?

JJ; Good question! I just thought it would be a step up from the FZ40; perhaps I'm wrong on that. You know how much I love my FZ40!

It would be nice if they'd come out with a little longer zoom.

Carol, camera companies are constantly coming out with new cameras. If you wait to see if the next one is going to be better, then you will never buy one. Based on what I've been reading on forums and seeing their examples, the FZ150 is an absolute gem.

You are right Saly! No use waiting for the "next" one. I definitely will not switch from the FZ's, as I've never been so impressed with their capabilities!

Carol, agree with Saly. Kind of like a computer, you buy the latest and greatest then six months later it is old stuff but it still does exactly what you need it to do.

Yes, first you decide that you want to upgrade, then you decide what you want, then you buy it. Never think; "wonder if there's something new coming next spring". If you do a good research you will be happy a long time. Look at me, going from FZ5 to FZ150

I would say that a longer zoom would be RARELY an add on. I mean I have been playing with a p500 lately and I would still not fall for that JUST for the zoom....

Though I still stick to the statement that why do you want to upgrade from an fz40.....

Default Add a teleconvertor?

Have you investigated the possibility of adding a tcon to your camera or the new FZ-150 to extend the zoom length?? That way you could keep the camera and not worry about something coming along later with a longer zoom.
One thing you can be sure of- camera manufacturers will keep coming out with new models to try to pry your dollars out of your hands!
