Default cold... even for the seagulls!

oh if only we had finches, eagles and roosters here in ramsgate, kent... but no. we have seagulls. lots and lots of seagulls! heres a couple of my faves

i was maybe a little under prepared for the first one as i was photographing some ducks by a river when that one landed right next to me. but number 2 i had time to get right lol. in fact i think i got several of him and his young siblings. they were all catching some winter sun on the banks of Ramsgate Harbour. i slipped so many times on seaweed just to get the pics lol

im going to take the children to feed the ducks today so maybe i'll get some shots of the ducks close up on the water. definately taking my tripod this time.

You're a bit like me though Simon. Living near the coast we just have to live with the things lol. But it does make for some good bird photography lol

I like the first one better. Maybe because it is a kind of gull not seen around Chicago, and the second one is a young European Herring Gull, and looks just like the American ones we have.

Around here if you take some old bread you have no trouble getting lots of close gull pictures.

thanks guys for your comments and compliments. picture 2, believe it or not, was one of the first pictures i ever took. it was my first day out with my camera and i'd never used a real camera before then. so as you can imagine its one of my favourite pictures
