Default Birds

Common and not-so-common birds that I captured during my recent holiday to Karnataka.

A cock, a good photogenic one at that, surveying the ground for worms. It's becoming rare to see such good specimens in urban areas.

A crow. Very common even in urban areas, but I like its setting in this shot.

Purple swamphen. In flight, they look like pea-hens.

Brahmini Kites, unaware I was photographing them!

Cute green bee-eater, enjoying sunshine - see the shine on his feathers!

Another cute, small, orange-feathered bulbul that was constantly moving and hiding in shadows. It was a real challenge capturing this.

Redwattled lapwing, at a distance:

These two birds, small and at a distance (ID I don't know), made me feel the need to have a tele-lens:

And finally, the little bittern, patiently waiting for its prey:

Hope you like these.

You have some nice birds in your area Raghu. One would never see the bitterns that live around here out in the open like that. Also, your Crow looks cuter than the ones in this area. Shape of the head does that I think.

Fabulous series Raghu! I agree the crow shot is very well shot, great sharpness and composition. The swamp hen and the bee eater are beautiful birds!
