Default Srisailam

Had been to this place in Andhra Pradesh to visit the popular Mallikarjuna Swamy (Shiva) temple. Unfortunately, photography was not permitted in the temple, though they have such beautiful sculptures and carvings in there. Had to be content with what I could take outside. A few snaps to share..

About 2 or 3 km from the temple is the highest spot in the mountain range, where a Nandi (bull - the vehicle of Lord Shiva) is installed and it is a religious custom to view the Lord through the horns of the Nandi. Here you can see an elderly devote offering his prayers and viewing the temple towers through the horns:

From here, the temple towers look like this:

River Krishna runs through the town, though you need to either walk 500 steps down or take the rope car. People bathe and worship the river.

The lure of the tasty hot puffed rice is too tempting:

Some colorful statues/art on the way:

A view of the Srisailam Dam. With very little water, there is no flow out of the dam.

Completely off-track, something cheerful to wrap up, the only relevance being this was shot in front of a small hut in Srisailam:
