Default My experiments with the moon

Had some idle time today and used the terrace effectively.

Moon through coconut palm leaf:

My son, studying design, introduced the concept of 'light painting', whereby a bright source of light is kept in focus and the camera is moved around with long exposure to form a pattern. Two quick attempts:

Believe me, the drawings (crude though they may be) were created with the moon as the pencil!

love that first one raghu. makes my through the branches shot less exotic for sure i did a similar thing with the drawing pics, using mars as my pencil a couple of nights back. would be cool to layer the red mars drawings over the moon.

Not at all, John. Yours is a unique shot and has a special feel about it. Even sitting in my office I get transported to open air and cool night when viewing that picture.

And thanks, friends. #2, while I just experimented, is, I believe, a vast subject in itself and some of the pictures I see in Flickr are amazing. I just made a simple, and bad, beginning!

Nice first shot Raghu

You have good control over the camera to 'draw' the two images #2, #3

That palm makes a much more effective filter than the bare sticks I have around.
