Default Backyard Finches - FZ150

I hung out in the garage to take these. We have louvered windows and I took out two of the strips of glass so I can shoot birds from fairly close. Click on either picture to see more on Flickr if you want.

Yes, the second one is cute and colorful. The first one looks very much like the common house sparrow (not common any more, they say their population is dwindling with the mushrooming of mobile towers whose transmission signals affect the small birds' brain activity), but slightly larger. Nice pictures, Steve.

Thanks John, Alex, Raghu.

And Raghu, besides these House Finches we have fifty or so of the common House Sparrows around all the time. No population losses around these parts for sure.

This is the one I was mentioning. Becoming difficult to see in urban areas nowadays. This one was taking a brief rest on a bicycle handle bar, after repeatedly pecking at its own reflection in the mirror!

Yeah, that's the kind we have. Shot below is a male. I have a ton of female shots, but the easy to find ones are all on the Mac, and my son took it out gaming tonight.
