Bit of both wise. The open beak shot, the owl and the last one were hand held shots. And in the first post titled bird of prey were a mixture of both too. It rained very hard and i had to stay under a tree for some which meant low hanging branches prevented tripod use.

The falcon (hawk?) in #4, it is so relaxed! It you didn't say it was taken at a hawkery, I would think that it is your pet bird. Very nice series!

Thanks WCKSer, i think these birds are very used to human interaction. Can't wait to go back there and shoot some more close ups
