Nice shot of this guy. It is a good year for them. We have had as many as eight in the yard at one time recently.

I forgot to mention, shot with a Lumix FZ35 at close to full zoom, picture somewhat cropped. I was sitting in a sun porch with a sliding window partially open, and keeping my face behind the camera as much as possible. Several types of bird feeders are at the in-laws house where I was visiting. This is the same place I witnessed for the first time in my life a pileated woodpecker a couple years ago, and posted a photo here I believe. Unfortunately no visits by any this time. But could hear one pecking away in the distance. Loud, fast knocking on wood.

Thanks for the comments. The female of the species looks like a big brown sparrow with a large beak.
This isn't as good of a shot, but hard to catch both male and female on a feeder at the same time.
