Default Getting ready to upgrade my FZ35. I need your help.

I like my fz35 and as I learn more I also learn some of its limitations. My birthday is coming and I want to get myself a camera that I can take instead of the fz35 where I won't need the extra zoom and I will rather have a better cam for low light.

Was thinking to get a micro 4/3 but I wanted to hear if others that have upgraded from the fz35. My budget is about $400 - 500.

Thanks

G'day PC

Good thoughts mate ~ we all need a bit of loving for our birthday
As to a camera upgrade > the FZ100/150 continues the FZ theme, still with great lens and even better [than the FZ35] image quality, &/or the G2/G3 would be a considerable change in camera/sensor etc etc but you would still be needing more $$ for lenses

For my $$ - stick with your budget and go for the FZ100/150

Regards, Phil

The FZ-150 is a considerable and worthy upgrade over the FZ-35 (and it's better than the FZ-100 also...), improving in just about every area.
If with your new camera you don't need the extreme zoom- the G3's low light performance is the best "G" yet (better than the G2) with very competent high iso performance for a 4/3 sensor. Of course,if you're going beyond the kit lens,it can get expensive..!

For $400-500, getting the G series will deplete this budget very quickly, with only one lens, if you get the kit.

I also would recommend the FZ150. I have the FZ40, love it; but want to upgrade, & keep the FZ40 for my spare.

What type of photography do you do; is low light how many of your photos are taken?

I do mostly family and friends, some landscaping like that. I thought about the fz150 but for the price I have seen for it, more than $400, I was thinking to get a used G3 or G10 but may be the better is to go with the fz150.

Well it seems that the FZ150 is disappearing. From a local dealer:

"The Panasonic DMC-FZ150K is no longer available for purchase new."

Seems very strange they would not keep it in their lineup, when the users seemed to like it a lot.

A few weeks ago B&H Photo in NYC said the 150 was no longer available from Panasonic......now they have it for sale for $450 / free shipping

Sure wish we knew if Pan is coming out with an updated "new" 150. I would be very upset if they don't, & I miss a chance in getting the discontinued 150.
