eysha- benefits over the FZ-35/38....
Wider angle and larger zoom,Tilt-swivel LCD(and larger LCD),improved movie modes and full manual adjustment if you wish. Faster burst modes and faster auto-focus,FAST f/2.8 lens at the full 600mm,zoom lever on lens barrel in addition to the usual rocker,HDR mode...
and goodness knows what else...!

My birthday and wedding anniversary are 5th August and hubby is looking for a present for me as there is nothing that i want so far. Do i want to upgrade to a 200 from a 35 and if so why - what would the benefit be?
I am not that camera literate so i ask lots of questions as i know there are so many experts here to instruct me.
I have the fz35 and I almost bought the fz150 last week. But now I may wait for the fz200 or something else.

if the fz200 image quality is as good as the FZ150 then yes, it will be an big upgrade from the FZ35. So why I would upgrade?

- 12.1 MP MOS Sensor
-LSI Venus Engine Image Processor
-25-600mm f/2.8 Leica Optical Zoom Lens.
-3.0" Free Angle 460K-dot LCD Display. I like this but not a deal breaker.
-0.2" Electronic View Finder w/ 100% FOV. Not sure if this is better.
-12 fps Continuous Shooting
-RAW and RAW+JPEG Recording Option. Is faster than the fz35 if you shoot RAW.
-Full HD 60p Video Recording.
- Improved Ergonomics
- Hot-shoe and Accessory Mount. You could mount a flash or mic.

I will be getting one. I like having a camera that I don't have to carry several lens to get the photos I want. I won't be pre-ordering, as I won't be able to afford it for a few months.

I was planning to order the FZ150 this weekend, but with this news I am definitely going to wait for the FZ200! I think the price is a bit too high so I will wait until Black Friday to see if the price comes down then. Thank goodness I have a lot of patience!

I have an old FZ7 which I use as a carry around on the beach etc.
It has two things I like in particular, one it has a barrel that screws into the body which takes a filter ,the lens extends within it. So it stops dust getting in through the telephoto zoom lens and provides protection for the lens via the filter.
I'm wondering if this model will have the same feature or even a filter thread but I see no mention of it.
It'll be a shame if it doesn't have either imho.
It does look like the business to me otherwise though,I definately feel my "gimme" feeling coming on.

it does sound good. I have to ask, what is Black Friday and what is it all about? sounds as if things get cheaper on that day but in the UK it doesn't exist as far as i know.

eysha... that would NEVER exist in the UK...lol...!!
It's kinda like our Boxing day sales though in the US it's at the beginning of the Christmas season- the next day after Thanksgiving- usually late November.

Putting all of the nice features aside this camera still has a very small sensor. No upgrade from the FZ150 at all! The only area it can really compete with a DSLR in is price, apparently.
