Default At a Snail's Pace

I was practising today in my little garden and found this snail. Since he is as slow as i am, at learning to take good shots, I thought i would try out the maunual setting.
I took around 100 of this little fella and was intriqued to see him make bubbles. I haven't seen this on a snail before so does anyone know why they do this?
Any suggestions to improve would be very welcome.
I did a little cropping and saturation only.

For the harsh sunlight, you have done a good job, Eysha. Since he would not have gone too far, I suggest you follow him and shoot when the lighting is more subdued.

Cute snail. Don't know anything about bubbles. And yeah, sometimes the best light isn't the brightest light. But still, you shoot when the target is there.

Eysha - you're so brave! I'm still in "automatic" mode . . Very good photos - well done!

Did take some photos of a snail - they can move quite quickly when they want too!

They certainly can as i found out. I was really surprised at him, he had a character. He was set free to roam in larger grounds so i hop he is happy now.

I really want to learn as i am planning a new camera soon so i need to know more.

Oh, and i am not brave, just persistent, lol. I have a very poor memory so that does not help t all.
