Default middlesbrough road trip...

just visited some good friends for a long weekend in the north east of Yorkshire. i visited some great places with epic scenery unlike anything we have here in the south coast. it was an interesting mix of natural beauty and industrial areas, sometimes even the two mixed together. here's a few of my pics from the trip...

1 & 2 are at High Force waterfalls in Teesdale.
3 is the water lift to the beach at Saltburn.
4 & 5 are at Whitby Abbey.

all shots are 3 exposure HDR.

and a couple of the more industrial sights but still fascinating to me, coming from a quiet beach town and having never seen this kind of industrial scene before.

Nicely done shots, my pick would be #3.

Nice shots of the waterfall and the ruins, not a fan for the last two though.

interesting pics!

What is it we're looking at in the last one? Is it some kind of smelter?

thanks guys, and yes gordy, its a smelting torpedo. melting down the unwanted substandard metal produced at the plant. total fluke shot. we were driving back from the fishing shots and just caught a glimpse of the torpedo through a fence. my friend jumped on the brakes and in true tourist fashion i screwed on the tele and got snapping. must have been over 100meters away but you knew it was damn hot lol
