Default FZ18 diopter adjustment fix ?

The diopter adjustment knob on my trusty FZ-18 can be moved or turned to easily. I will set it to my eyeglasses and use the camera; it used to stay locked on that setting forever. It now is freewheeling and needs to be adjusted.

Is there an easy fix for his; a way to tighten that knob that a layperson could do ?

Thanks in advance !

I'd to have the camera to have the ability to be used by others; I would assume that if I adjust the diopter to my eyes, then glue it, that the viewfinder is then worthless for anyone else besides me.

Is this a fix that can be done easily by a repair shop ?

How much whould this repair cost ?
