I've always wanted to go to Monument Valley(watched too many westerns I guess).
Very nice shots, were the after dark ones taken hand held?.

Thanks for the comments :-)

the Vegas night shots were handheld - that lens is a total light-sucker, it's amazing how different those shots look compared to how dark it actually was. i tried a few techniques : auto gave a nice "normal" look but on A mode it came out very golden like the shots shown here. i tried to get creative w/ longer exposures and get light trails from the cars - they were pretty cool but i didn't have my tripod so there was other shake artifacts that spoiled the pics :-(

the MV shots were on a tripod on a table on my hotel room balcony (The View hotel looks right out over the valley). again, they came out far better than i hoped, w/ the limitations inherent in a bridge, even one w/ an f2.8 lens. i used a remote cable and played about w/ allsorts of exposures and ISOs, i think they came out ok for a first ever attempt.

Now you've got me interested.
I look forward to your next posts.

Beautiful shots, I like all of the Monument Valley shots, and the very last sunset in Vegas shot. Very well done.
