Default Need Help Panasonic ZS7

I have a Panasonic ZS7 that does most of what I want it to do. I admit I'm not proficient and don't know how to use most of it's fetures. I had never tried to use the video before, figured out how to download the *.MTS files to my computer, but can't open them. QuickTime Player and PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.1 software that came with the camera will not recognise or open these files, so I need some help. Thanks, in advance.

JD, I have a panasonic ZS8, and a Canon SX40HS, both of which shoot video, and I have no problem with either one, using a PC running Windows 7, and importing movie clips into Windows Movie Maker. I have not encountered your problem, but I found some info that might help you, HERE.

Good luck, computers can be maddening.

I'm running Windows-XP, downloaded and installed Windows Media Player-11, and tried using it to play the files, it didn't work, found this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...2cef227?auth=1

Tried changing the file extention from *.MTS to *.MPG as one commenter suggests, that didn't work either.

Don't know what to do next...?

I hate the AVCHD format. It may be efficient in terms of quality vs. space but it sure is a nightmare to deal with. I have a ZS6 and changed the video format it records in. First, if your computer is old, it may not play the video correctly (once you manage to open it) due to lack of physical resources. Try these sites:

Good luck.

If your ZS7 has the motion jpeg option- which my TZ10 does (the UK version of the ZS7) then I'd go with this if you're running XP, selecting WVGA if you want a widescreen view...

HD video from all of my camera's is a no-no with XP- or at least a system as old as the XP...lol...

I have been using these two players to play my mts files :

1) http://mpc-hc.org/
2) http://player.gomlab.com/eng/download/

They are both free and work good (for me at least) so you can try them and see which one you like more. I find the 1st to be faster when you want to forward your video. Other than that they are pretty much equal.

Now if you want, you can change the format that your camera records video as the others suggested. Let us know if you found your solution
