Its a red lily beetle, never seen on myself, but I'm down in south east UK, apparantly these can be found in Cumbria. If you have a garden full of lilies you might have a problem!

Nice picture.

Thanks JPW2020. I have recently found out that it I indeed a red lily beetle as you say and they are a dreaded pet regarding lilies. Apparently they are back and a lot of gardeners are now on guard against them. I had never seen one before until recently. they look pretty and I was practising my photography skills too but need to get rid of them from my lilies or I won't have any.

G'day Eysha

Well the "littl crittr" might be a problem - but there's no problems with your camera work

Thank you Phil, I keep practising but prefer my Panasonic to the Nikon D40 I bought.
Sucama, it is only a couple of centimeters really and I have recently found out it is a Lily Beetle, nasty little thing apparently that loves to eat the lilies - gardeners here in the uk hate them and say they must be destroyed but I cannot kill them, I just brush them off the plant.
