Default Scenery

A place called Avalanche (named so in view of a landslide, not avalanche, that occurred several decades ago) near Ooty, accessible only by Government vehicles because it lies in a restricted area, offers beautiful scenery for the visitors. A few shots to share.

Nice series of landscape shots Raghu.

Why is it a restricted area?

Thanks, JJ. To safeguard the environment, the Forest department has taken steps to keep this area protected, restricting the number of visits and not allowing public vehicles.

That's great they are protecting the area so future generations can enjoy.

G'day mate

Golly - that water level is very low - are you in a serious drought too?

The images are great - lots of contrast & saturation in each image - Thanks
Phil

Yes, Phil, the water level is alarmingly low. Do drought as yet, but if the North East monsoon fails, then we will surely have it next year. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your comments. We had a good trip there.

The monsoon season for you - the Wet season for us
I have recently been in an area of the Aussie outback where their rainfall over the last 30 months has equalled 3-months for a 'normal' season. The drought is biting hard, cattle are skin & bones and the kangaroos in their thousands are starving.
ps- as there is an estimated 200 million kangaroos in Oz compared with 20 million people, we think that the kangaroos will survive to 'hop another day'
