Default Panasonic Bob: EXIF Makernote Fields

Bob,

Do you know of any software that will correctly decode the Panasonic Makernote fields in the EXIF data produced by an FZ10. I've tried a bunch of different EXIF viewers and none of them can recognize Panasonic's Makernote fields.

Thx ... Jim

Gene,

Yes, these are the standard EXIF2.2 fields. In addition to these, the camera manufacturer can add their own, custom, fields in a section called Makernotes. The Canon and Nikon Makernotes are well known and many EXIF viewers can display them. My problem is that I can't find any spec for the Panasonic Makernote fields (which I can see in an hex dump) or any software that can decode them. Thus my original question.

Thx ... Jim

Thanks for the references. I've tried these and EXIFRead comes closest. At least it recognizes that there is a Panasonic Makernote present. Unfortunately it still displays most of the fields as Unknown.
I would have thought that Panasonic would supply software that recognizes its own Makernotes, but the software on the supplied CD does not.

I have no idea if what you looking for is in the new release of ACDSee, but v6.0.3 is supposed to have "Enhanced support for Exif maker notes." You can download a free trial version at http://www.acdsystems.com/english/Pr...CRA=ENmoreinfo Please let us know if this works for you.

ACDSee seems to know the Makernote is there, but it doesn't decode it. I was hoping the Panasonic would have an answer, but Bob didn't reply to this post.

Thx ... Jim

I finally found a program that interprets the Panasonic Makernote fields.
