I just read about a new 2GB MMC card with a transfer rate of 22.5 MB/sec here:

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0405/04...pretecmmc4.asp

The article claims it works with most SD compatible devices. Does anyone know if this might work with the FZ10?

Yes, everything up to 2GB should work fine with the FZ10

I assume that's due to the 2GB limitation of the FAT-16 file system used in the camera? If the card happens to be (say) a hair bigger than 2GB, what will happen? Will the camera use the card anyway but only upto the 2GB limit, or will it fail to work at all?

A 2GB card would be awfully sweet for movie mode.

That's correct, a larger Fat32 card probably wouldn't be recognized by the camera. It would also be great for sports photography using burst mode, at 22,5 MB/sec write times will be very short! When Tiff or Raw modes would be available I would also be very happy with such a card

I doubt that there would really be any speed gain over the current crop of fast SD cards due to the limitations of the camera's buss speed, but the next generation of cameras could really benefit from this.
