The Canon TC-DC52 2.4x Tele Converter for Canon PowerShotcameras is apparently optically quite good, and has a 52mm thread (I think). It needs a conversion lens adapter for the Canon cameras.

I've got a 55mm-52mm stepping ring on my FZ1. Does anyone know if this TC-DC52 can be used successfullywith it?

I'm guessing that itwould work, but only at close to full telephoto. That seems like a lot of zoom for $99. Let us know if you get it so we can see some samples.

Geurito

I'm in the UK, and have just ordered one at a fairly good price (link below if anyone's interested). Will let you know how it goes, and post pictures.

The TC-DC52 turned out to be useless because the rear element is too small. Even at full zoom, there's significant vignetting. My search for a decent teleconverter over 2X magnification continues.

Consider stacking an Olympus tcon17 (1.7x - $90) and an Oly c210 (1.9x - $40) for a combined tele power of 3.23x. See http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...essage=9149230

Why do you need 2X? There is that new Kenko 2X Pro with 58mm mounting thread and the new Raynox 2.2X 2020 PRO with 62mm mounting thread. Both have smaller mount openings (like the TC-DC52) compared to the 1.7X Olympus TCON-17 (still available) or the 1.5X Canon TL-55 (hard to get).

You could try the Canon TC-DC58.... that looks like it has larger lens elements, and is x1.75

Wow, that's too bad. The rear lens must be really small. I have a C210 and it has a small rear lens, but it is usable (barely), at full zoom.

Thanks for posting that, fmoore. I do a lot of long-range photography, but don't want to carry heavy equipment, which is why I got the FZ1. That combination of TCON17 with C210 appears to work well. I'm going to try that out. I couldn't get the combined lenses picture to open, but the smaller version seems fairly sharp.

Is it possible for someone in the US to help me out in the UK buying an Olympus C-210 lens? I tried ordering one for $39.95 here: https://emporium.olympus.com/innards...sku=103898-410

They told me they don't ship to the UK

This lens doesn't seem to be available anywhere in the UK. Can anyone help? email: [email protected]
