if i charge the battery pack before it is fully depleted, will it still take 90 minutes to charge? what is the best method to prolong the life of the battery?

Yes, the charger is "intelligent". Li-on batteries don't like deep decharges and have no memory effect so you can safely recharge them after partial usage.

I don't think lithium batteries need any special treatment. They have no memory so it doesn't matter whether you let it completely discharge or charge it when it is partially charged.

The charger shuts down when the battery is charged. I have read that some cheap aftermarket batteries are missing the feedback circuit, but I bought one of the Eagle batteries for $20 and it charges just like the Panasonic battery and the charger shuts down when it is charged.
