A secret photo of the Panasonic FZ30 scheduled for release in June 2005.

http://jerry-.smugmug.com/photos/6390146-L.jpg

Some of features that are unconfirmed at this time are a 28mm to 620 zoom with a maintained F1.4 aperture thru all settings. Nikon and Canon are on the ropes. There is an anti shake device that works at all speeds and focal lengths. You push the button and three spikes shoot out of the base, plant themselves in the ground and take the picture. This may not be included in the final product due to reported foot injuries. The unit now produces excellent noise free and color perfect pictures at ISO setting of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 600. The 800 setting is a little noisy but can be useful if you want to avoid long exposures. There has been some chatter that the camera has a hot satellite and Wi Fi connection to a large-scale processor in Japan. The recorded image after viewing by the user is transmitted to the central computer where it is post processed and returned to the camera in under 5 minutes.

That is enough for now more news to follow.

Thank you for taking the time to email Panasonic

There is going to be a upgrade for a DMC-FZ30 nine months after its release, but not for the DMC 10, 15 or 20, there are mechanical differences between the u nits . The announcement will coincide with the announcement of the DMC-FZ40 which can cook an egg in one minute. Woops wrong division..
Sincerely

Is it true that the FZ 30 will have a firmware release within a year of its release?

Unfortunately FZ30 or even FZ40 IS probably going to be released at around the time you say: June 2005.
And they are going to have Venus III/IV engine, hopefully not using the same old lens as FZ10.
No doubt by that time other companys will have created products better than Panasonic's. Anyone who has read about the Minolta Z3 spec would realize that the only feature it lacks is F2.8 entire zoom range compare to FZ10.

Due to a change in recent practices, Panasonic has reported that it will be devoting more resources into the firmware/customer relations department. Unfortunatelythe side effect of this isthe FZ30/40 firmware will be released approx. 1 month before the expected release of the actual machine. The result of this is that the feature/specs list will be dramatically improved as soon as the customer gets their new camerahome. Of course othermanufacturers will need to play catch up, now thatPanasonic have jumped to the lead with this new initiative.

OK, don't tell anyone, but the new FZ30 will be the first DSC to be sold as a kit so that the customer can have the final product they like.3 different lenses,2 CCD,plus one CMOS,4 modular plug in flash units, more to come. Can someone tell me how many combinations we can assemble so far ?

Don't be surprised if after this , Canon and Sony will give the DSC market.

Froman unrelated story,Matsushita have made official the purchase of Lego

I think we now know what's coming if the FZ3/15/20 suddenly start to be in short supply in 8 1/2 months...
