Panasonic must have produced 4mb write FZ20s and slipped them into the market place in FZ10 skins. You people are lucky to have these special cameras. It takes 2 seconds to capture five burst mode images into memory therefore leaving you with zero seconds to write to the SD card.

It takes the FZ10 1,2 sec to take the 5 shot burst, after that it takes 2 seconds write time to a fast SD card. So a 5 shot burst can be repeated every 3,2 seconds with a fast SD card untill the card is full.

Playlong,

The Panasonic 16MB card that you used is a 2mb card, not a 10mb. The 10mb cards are those that are 256mb and higher.

So it's not at all surprising that the numbers are pretty close. Try a test with a faster card and let us know what happens.

I need one more 256 card for my trip to the middle east. Which one do you suggest?

Which of the upper end cards are the least money?

I use a 256MB Sandisk Ultra II card, cost me 60 euro.

It has a write time of 2 seconds after a 5 shot HQ burst, slow cards (2MB) take 10 seconds to do the same.

I'd go with a Panasonic or Simpletech SD in 256mb or 512mb size (both appear to be using thesame components). These are rated at 10mb/second. Smaller cards are slower.

If you can find a Lexar "High Speed" 32x Card that's made in Japan, they seem to be using the same components as the Panasonic Cards, too. However, the brand new Lexar 32x cardsappear to be made in the U.S., using their own components (Lexar appears to have starting making their own Secure Digital now). So, these newer cards may be slower (closer to their real rating). I've only seen one user that's got one of the newer ones so far.

Give it up Klaas, we've beaten this one to death over the past several months. It's clear the high-speed cards show a substantial data transfer rate improvement over the standard cards in the FZ10 and that's a fact.

Just to give you some numbers regarding my pervious post

In H burst mode on FZ10 for 5 frames with 256MD SD cards:

Verbatim ~2s, SanDisk Ultra II ~2s, Panasonic ~3s
So how is that it "consistanly out performs my SanDisk Ultra II and Panasonic cards (all 256MB) in my FZ10."

The Verbatim is rated at 2MB on their own Website
