The 383 is a good choice, It is more than powerful enough.

I use an eyepiece from an Orion telescope which must be jury rigged to fit but it is very soft rubber and blocks all unwanted light.

I use the standard one

Just picked up the Nikon eyecup...works great...I use it upsidedown though...maybe it's just me...but it's much better that way!

Any thoughts??

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to try and see if I can get the Nikon or Orion eye cup, and the Sunpak today.

Just an update. I couldn't get the Nikon 2399 eye cup from B&H as it was currently out of stock but I did find a camera store in central London (York Cameras Ltd) that sold Nikon eye cups. They had a Nikon DK-10 eye cup and that fits just perfect over the view finder and boy does it make a world of difference !

Price £7.99 and B&H has it for sale at $3.95.

Apologies for the previous pic of the eye cup - I had hoped the image hadn't been uploaded. So to make up for it here's a couple of FZ10 with the Nikon D10 eye cup> Like TCB I've fitted it upside down as it just seems to fit better.

Well, since I've never used or even seen "in person" one of those, here's my newbie question:

Is it very, very useful?

In which situations specifically?

Does it have some kind of lense to magnify what you see in the EVF or is it siply made to help your eye to fit and avoiding external light from bothering you?

Thanks a lot.

Jose'

I'm finding the eye cup really usefull especially in reducing camera shake which I was getting quiet a lot. It also helps me as I wear glasses - its nearly impossible for me to use the EVF without the eye cup.

Hope that helps.
