is it instant or is there a long delay? so if your taking sports shots, will it be ok or will you maybe lose the subject because of the delay?

When using manual focus the FZ10's shutter lag is 0,2 sec. (actually it's 0,1 + 0,1 delay in the EVF). Shutter lag including auto focus can be anything from 0.4 to 1.5 second depending on circumstances. So if you can predict where the action is going to take place use manual focus.

Use the manual focus and shoot with both eyes, the left to show you the action the right to get it in frame.
