lawrencew:

Are you happy with the tcon-14b? I can't decide whether to getit or the panasonic. I am ignoring the price difference and strictly evaluating performance. Can you keep F2.8 throughout the zxoom range with the tcon-14b? Panasonic says you can with theirs.

Also, what were you settings on the awesome moon shoot?

Thanks,

rookie

yes - happy with TCON14B.

Haven't used it that much actually, the 420mm end of the FZ10 is already enough for most situations!

There's a couple of more shots here http://www.wilkesworld.co.uk/superzoom.htm

It is heavy. Coupled with the already front heavy FZ10 it does make it tiresome to shoot with the combination for long periods (well short periods even...)

Also it does lead to an increase in Chromatic Abberations.

I also found that manual focus seems to sometimes produce a sharper shot than auto- but spot mode helps.

I was fortunate in that you can pick up TCON14b cheap in the UK. https://secure.hitech-uk.com/acatalo...us_Lenses.html

I bought the complete bundle of Olympus lenses from this site, and then resold on ebay the TCON-300S on its own for the same price as the whole bundle. So I got a TCON14B and WCON08B for free

Heres a neat one. I was able to capture some clouds, and still keep the details of the moon.

Mode: Manual

1/10 sec f2.8

ISO: 80

IS: Off

Zoom: 12x

Image cropped to fit, no enhancements.
