I have a question....when you trip the shutter on the fz20, the viewfinder whites out for a period of time. My question is, "Does this white-out correspond to the amount of time the shutter is open? Do I need to hold the camera still until the viewfinder comes back on? I have the camera set to silent, so can't hear a shutter.

This can happen if you have a high ISO or slow shutter speed. If you are using automatic and the camera turns on and then transitions from low light to sunlight quickly, at first the low shutter speed will cause this, and it may take a moment or two for the shutter speed to step up to the proper speed and allow you to see on the LCD.
