New to digital cameras, bought a fz20 last week. Enjoying the forum and trying to learn. Saw on an earlier post that an uv haze filter was reccomended for the lense. One particular one was the Quantary 72mm. Do you leave this for all typesof shots? Does this help the quality of the picture or just protect the lense? Any other benefit? Does it reducelight getting to the lense and make hte image you see on the lcd or evf sharper?

UV-Filter are mainly used for protecting the lense, but they also help to avoid an intensive blue sky color.

i had a circular polarizer for lens protection but i realized that it takes away about 1f of light so i ended up removing it in low light conditions negating the advantage of lens protection. I also have now bought this quartenery multicoated uv filter not sure if it is haze or not. I have not oened the package yet. Does any one recommend this filter.

Is it good quality filter.

Thanks

If it's the 24-166-2584, then I have the exact one. Was it $24.99 at Ritz Camera?

Works fine for me. I just need it to protect the lens.

I have not tested to see if it effects the prints, but I will do so and post the results here.
