I'm trying to come up with an optical way to help me frame sports photos in burst mode with the FZ-20. Even with the shorter delay, the EVF/LCD shows the last shot (where the player "was" rather than "is"). I've thought about something on the hotshoe, even something as simple as wire bent into a rectangle, but anything that goes into the hotshoe disables the burst mode because it thinks it is a flash

The only other thing I can think of is something that would go into the tripod mount (like some sort of flash bracket).

Any ideas?

Wouldn't using the red dotscope that was discussed on the dpreview work? You use a paint ball scope, mounted on the hot shoe. The scope is about $9. There are a number of creative ways to attach it.

I think I'll try it. Someone over at onlinephotographers.com gave me the link.
