Hello everybody
I am Luke Fisher, and I bet you can guess what I do from my screenname...I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks (ready? THANKS!) to everyone who has posted stuff about my new toy.

I just bought an FZ1 and a 256 card. Got a really good deal, but that is less important to me than the fact that due to all of your posts, I am extremely satisfied with my cam.
Even some of the negative posts helped me, because I want to know the real deal, not just foof.
Cam was $199, card was $39(last years model closeout at a distributor). Now I want filters, the marine case and a carrying case. Perhaps a spare battery too.
Now I am gonna hafta learn how to make beautiful shots, and how to post them!
Thanks again,
Luke

Good choice!

The above links are very helpful, albeit somewhat redundant. Check our the seedwiki one first if you haven't already. You got a great deal, good luck with your camera.

Welcome, Luke, and congratualtions on joining the fz1derful world. You're going to love your new friend.
Accessorysuggestions:
1.Get a 55mm mutlicoated metal uv filter (Ritz Camera stores has a Quantaray brand ~$25) for camera lens protection. Leave the adapter and uv lensonat all times exept for flash shots - the adapter will interefer with the flash sensor. The uv filter will also accept 55mm threads and being metal forms a better connection for on/off addtional filters.
2. If you are interested in macro shots, a close-up lens is a must in order to use the full zoom range. See http://www.ishots.net/fz1-2faq/fz1macros.htm
3. If you are intersted in extending the already considerable reach of the fz1, a good affordable ($40)tele converter is the olympus c-210 (1.9x). This will give you an optical zoom capability of over 20x. See https://emporium.olympus.com/innards/specialoffers.asp (The Soft Leather Case for SLR Cameras at the same site isa nice case and can handle the fz1 w/ attached adapterand room to spare.) If you decide to get the c-210 you will need a 55mm-52mm step down ring. If you get that, then consider the 52mm nikon 4t +3 diopter dual element close-up lens for macro work. $30 at http://focuscamera.com/prods/757645011.asp

While I appreciate the compliment, Bob, the resident experts on the FZ-1 are fmoore, or Zoomn, or Rezajune or Funzoom... Did I forget anyone?

I'm just the loudest and most obnoxious : )
