I have the c210 and the tcon17 and prefer the tcon17 for quality - better lens and less vignetting. However, the price difference and the weight difference (both about half) of the c210 really makes it a very nice tele to use with the stock fz1 adapter (55-52mm step ring required). I recommend it.

Just to add to your options, consider the canon tl-55. It is a relatively small high quality 1.4x 55mm tele and goes for ~$90.

I ordered one last week and just got it in today.

Still waiting on the step-down ring from buydig.com

The lens looks pretty nice. I've seen some good shots posted over at dpreview.

Depends on what you are going to use it for.

If you are going to use it for wildlife photography where you will be cropping your photos it is an excellent choice. If you are going to be using it for any other reason it is a very poor choice.

There is significant vignetting all the way to 12x optical. You have to go over the line into the digital range to remove it. It still takes excellent pictures at this point.

Here is a representative example of a bird photo taken as 12x optical and then cropped to remove the vignetting. fz1 c-210

Thanks for the link and recommendations. I just ordered the C210. That's the best price around. Tried eBay but it wasn't worth it. Ended up costing more (eBayers are nuts sometimes...) The TCON-17 has better specs and reputation but I'm not into nature photos or I would have went with it. I wanted one "just to have" sort of thing, if the need ever arises. I like that I just need a step-down ring and no neet to order the heavy duty tube adapter from Japan to support it.

That's exactly what makes the c210 useful and a good buy. If you find later that you are interested in something a little better, you have some experience to apply.
